Taman Sari, a closer look at the king's garden Yogyakarta

If you walk in the palace, you certainly will not miss the Water Palace aka better known as Taman Sari, no more than 1 km west of the Palace. The palace was created in 1758 by Sultan Hamengkubuwono I as a vacation home for the royal family. Castle means beautiful garden. The palace was badly damaged by the earthquake in 1867. The palace itself is divided into two complexes, namely:

1.Umbul Binangun - Complex swimming baths

  • If a visit to the palace aka Taman Sari, avoid wearing mini clothes to respect local culture and traditions.
